Otomo's style of drawing is somewhat different than the typical manga style, because he was heavily influenced by early western films. His characters tend to be drawn in a more realistic way (at least as far as anatomy is concerned). Faces are not that realistic but certainly more than Leichi Matsumoto's for example.
